Ultimate Fighting comes to the north east of England in the form of UFC 80: Rapid Fire.

Headlining the night will be an interim world lightweight match up between BJ Penn and Joe “Daddy” Stevenson. BJ Penn has opened as the favorite in this bout, and is sure to draw more action as the event nears. In the second feature fight of the night Gabriel Gonzaga, fresh off his loss to Randy Couture will take n Fabrico Werdum. Betting odds for this bout have not surfaced yet.

BJ Penn is 11-4-1 in his professional MMA career. He has a mixture of wins coming from TKO, submission and decisions. Penn is a very advanced Jiu Jitsu fighter, which shows through in his excellent ground game. In his last five fights, Penn is 2-3 with wins over Jens Pulver and Renzo Gracie. His losses came to Matt Hughes, Georges St. Pierre and Lyoto Machida. Penn has been known for jumping around in weight classes to experiment with his fighting styles against different fighters. BJ Penn opened this fight as a -225 favorite and has since shot up to -285 as the early money continues to roll in on his side.

Joe “Daddy” Stevenson Fight Info

Joe Stevenson is 28-7-0 in his professional MMA career, and has recorded notable wins over Kurt Pellegrino. Yves Edwards and Luke Cummo. Stevenson is 4-1 in his pst five bouts, with his only loss coming to Josh Neer at Ultimate Fight Night 4 via unanimous decision.
He opened this bout as +185 underdog and has since crept up to +225. BJ Penn will be Joe’s toughest hurdle thus far.
