UFC 78 returns to New Jersey for the first time
in over two years, On Saturday, November 17th and in the main
event at Newark’s Prudential Center, two of the best from The
Ultimate Fighter will meet, as season two winner “Sugar”
Rashad Evans (15-0-1) battles season three winner Michael “The
Count” Bisping (15-0) in a battle that will not only leave one
of these unbeatens with a loss on his record, but it will
validate the victor as the future of the light heavyweight
division. |

Date: Nov. 17, 2007
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Venue: Prudential Arena
Broadcast: Pay-Per-View |
The bout pits the winners from seasons two and
three of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality series against one
another. It also ends a rather bizarre situation to find a
“marquee” bout to bolster a very solid fight card at the
Prudential Center.
UFC 78 also brings us a terrific light
heavyweight bout between two fighters with ultra aggressive
styles. Houston Alexander looks to continue his string of
impressive KO wins when he takes on Thiago Silva.
Houston Alexander (8-1) and Thiago Silva (11-0)
will clash in a hard-hitting light heavyweight bout at UFC 78:
“Validation” on November 17 at the Prudential Center in
Newark,
The Assassin” has wiped the floor in his first two appearances
inside the Octagon, flooring Keith Jardine at UFC 71 with
punches and crushing Alessio Sakara at UFC 75 with knees and
punches. Both fights combined have not lasted longer than two
minutes.
Silva is an undefeated ChuteBoxe-trained fighter who most
recently snuffed out the very tough Polish product, Tomasz
Drwal, via second round technical knockout at UFC 75. He, too,
will be making his
third appearance inside the Octagon. His other win came
against James Irvin, which was stopped because the “Sandman”
sustained a fight-ending knee injury in the first round.
Alexander and Silva are two fighters, who love to throw blows.
This should be an explosive bout, as well as provide some real
answers as to where these guys fit in a stacked light
heavyweight division. It’s been hard to gauge thus far because
both of these fighters have made it their business to end
fights very early.
