UFC Fight Night Live, Shields vs Ellenberger
UFC Fight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 from the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and feature an outstanding welterweight clash between top contenders Jake Shields and Jake Ellenberger. UFCFight Night Live: Battle on the Bayou will be broadcast live on SPIKE TV at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
It won’t be an easy fight for Shields. Ellenberger is currently riding a four-fight win streak and his strong wrestling base and knockout power matches up well with Shields stylistically. This is definitely his chance to make a name for himself in the UFC welterweight division.
Shields will look to return to his winning ways after losing to champion Georges St. Pierre on at UFC 129 in April via unanimous decision. That fight saw the end of a 15 fight win streak, which included wins over Dan Henderson, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Yushin Okami, and Carlos Condit.
Ellenberger has been working his way up the contender ladder since dropping a split decision to Condit in his UFC debut in 2009. Since that loss, Ellenberger has won four fights in a row, most recently dominating Sean Pierson en route to a first-round knockout at UFC 129.
