UFC 162: Silva vs Weidman Live Odds

UFC 162: Silva vs Weidman was a mixed martial arts event on July 6, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event was a UFC Middleweight Championship bout between long time title holder Anderson Silva and undefeated top contender Chris Weidman.

Also, co-featured on the card was expected to be a bout between top featherweight contenders Ricardo Lamas and Chan Sung Jung; however on June 14, it was announced that Jung had been pulled from the Lamas bout and would replace an injured Anthony Pettis to face José Aldo on August 3, 2013 at UFC 163.

Chris Weidman did the impossible on Saturday and handed Anderson Silva his first UFC loss. While most figured Weidman would have to beat Silva with his wrestling, it was a well-placed left hook that downed Silva. Caught with his hands down, Silva saw his title reign of seven years come to a shocking end.

The other featured bouts booked for the card include Frankie Edgar taking on Charles Oliveira in the co-main event of the evening, Tim Kennedy and Roger Gracie squaring off in their respective Octagon debuts, Mark Munoz's big comeback bout opposite Tim Boetsch, and Cub Swanson looking to continue his recent resurgence up against Dennis Siver.

Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman:

Round 2: Silva keeps clowning at the start of round two, mocking Weidman with a fake wobble after the challenger lands a glancing blow. Weidman shoots after 40 seconds and Silva shuts it down quickly. Weidman whiffs on a head kick and dodges a Silva front kick. Weidman charges forward with a combination and Silva is still clowning, leaning backwards, when Weidman connects with a perfect left hook on the chin.

Silva is out cold with his eyes glazed over when he hits the canvas, but Weidman tacks on a right and a left before ref Herb Dean can intervene. He’s done it! Weidman has actually done it. He has ended the reign of Anderson Silva. At 1:18 of round two, Chris Weidman is the new UFC middleweight champion.
