Mauricio Rua vs. Dan Henderson:

Early in round one, Shogun shot forward and got hit hard by a right hand. Rua took him down, but only found himself nearly guillotined and then pounded on when they came to their feet for his efforts. After a separation, Henderson once again landed a big time punch as Rua attempted to get him to the ground again, this time unsuccessfully.

The second round saw both fighters connect with solid punches until Henderson hit home with another powerful flurry, including some serious uppercuts. Rua weathered the storm, however. And for the rest of the stanza, Henderson tended to dictate the pace, landing most of the bigger shots, usually inside.

Here’s the story on round three. Henderson landed a huge right hand that floored Shogun. Then the American fighter pounded on his adversary big time. Nearly stopped him. Rua attempted a leg lock that failed along the way.

Wanderlei Silva vs. Cung Le:

Basically, Le connected with shots in spots, including side kicks, rare punches, and more. That said, Silva started landing some kicks, as a cut on Le’s face- from a Silva right hand- seemed to bother him some.

This allowed “The Axe Murderer” to hit home with some punches as well at the tail end of the stanza.

Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles:

Early on, Faber stalked Bowles. The two traded punches, then Faber landed a solid low kick. Faber connected with a grazing flurry. Another bout of the same, before Bowles landed a solid right hand. Basically, Faber continually shot in, landed flurries, and then got out of trouble.

And although Bowles was game, landing some shots of his own, Faber’s foot speed, his ability to move in and out of trouble, was the story on round one until around the 1:20 mark when Faber shot in and took Bowles down.
