UFC 132 featured the first-ever main event between World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) transplants, with bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz looking to score redemption against arch enemy Urijah Faber.

It took him five rounds, but he did it, relying on his stellar takedown defense and quick stand up to notch his first-ever victory inside the Octagon.

Cruz and Faber constantly traded punches and battled for position over the five-round rematch, but Cruz’s elusive striking a successful takedowns outweighed Faber’s more-powerful punches in the eyes of the judges, who awarded Cruz 50-45, 49-46, and 48-47 scores.

Cruz won the fight 50-45, 49-46, and 48-47 on the scorecards, but a case could be made for Faber in any number of rounds. The win avenges Cruz's loss to Faber in 2007, a swift 90 second submission for the then-featherweight champion.

As a UFC world champion, Dominick Cruz is in very elite company. He is the undisputed king of the world at 135 pounds and is showing no signs of slowing down. However, with his win last Saturday night over former featherweight champion Urijah Faber, Cruz has ascended to another level that only a handful of fighters have reached.
