Event: UFC 117: Silva vs Sonnen
Date: August 7, 2010
Time: 10PM ET/7PM PT
Location: Oracle Arena, Oakland, California
Broadcast: Pay-per-view
Betting: Bet on UFC 117
For the Main Event we have the current UFC Middleweight
Champion Anderson Silva (26-4) taking on number one
contender Chael Sonnen (24-10-1).
For nearly four years, UFC middleweight champion
Anderson Silva has ruled the 185-pound weight class with
an iron fist. This will mark Anderson’s seventh title
defense since 2007 and Silva is undefeated in the UFC
with 11 straight victories.
Anderson Silva Vs Chael Sonnen:
Undefeated in the UFC and one of the most
dominant champions to ever grace the Octagon, Anderson “The
Spider” Silva is fighting out of Curitiba, Brazil. Known for
his striking abilities, Silva is also a Brazilian jiu-jitsu
black belt under the world-renowned Nogueira brothers and a
dynamic fighter who can do it all in the Octagon. His length
often causes problems for his opponents, as only two of his
last 11 victories have gone to the scorecards. But the
champion now faces a fighter that believes he has figured
out a way to stop The Spider.
Chael Sonnen, will be looking to win his first middleweight
title, he has won two light heavyweight championships titles
while fighting outside of the UFC and is considered to be
the last unofficial WEC middleweight champion. Sonnen
defeated champion Paulo Filho in a non-title bout at WEC 36,
but was unable to take home the distinction because Filho
came into the bout over-weight and seeing Jesus in the
audience.
Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson: As expected Junior Dos Santos
(11-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) will meet fellow heavyweight contender
Roy Nelson (15-4 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in August at UFC 117.
Nelson originally was slated to fight Cheick
Kongo at UFC 116, but the French striker pulled out of the
bout with a back injury.
The 25-year-old Dos Santos enters the fight with six
consecutive victories, five of which have come in the UFC.
Most recently he fought at UFC on Versus 1 and knocked out
former contender Gabriel Gonzaga in less than four minutes.
Of Dos Santos' 11 career wins, only one opponent made it out
of the first round: Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic, who verbally
submitted to the Brazilian in the third round of their UFC
103 matchup.
In addition to Gonzaga and Filipovic, Dos Santos has stopped
Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve and Gilbert Yvel in the
octagon.
Nelson, 33, racked up his second consecutive octagon victory
with a beatdown of 6-foot-11 Struve at UFC Fight Night 21 in
March. The former IFL champ bucked most predictions by
quickly getting inside on Struve and knocking him out with a
right hand in just 33 seconds.
Also in action, welterweight contenders Jon Fitch and Thiago
"Pitbull" Alves square off in their long-awaited rematch,
and welterweight legend Matt Hughes takes on jiu-jitsu
wizard Ricardo “Big Dog” Almeida.

UFC MoneyLine Betting
Money lines are used in UFC betting online, as
well as over/under lines. The lines are based upon the odds
and you have several wagering options, such as a win by a
knockout or submission or referee stoppage. There is no point
spread in a money line; it simply shows the amount of money to
be won based on the amount of the wager. In general, the
negative line is for the favorite and the positive for the
underdog. As in other sports, you must bet more to win less
and bet less to win more.
With a
UCF Moneyline bet, All
bets on MMA events are considered official from the time of
the first bell. If the betting line is three-way, you have a
choice of betting on either contender or on a draw. In the

whether the UFC fight will end before or after the end of a
specific round. Rounds are usually timed for three & five
minutes. There are usually three rounds in UFC Matchups.
However, title fights are scheduled for five rounds.
The Ultimate Fighting Championships began in
1993. It redefined what martial arts was all about. It set in
motion, the battleground for the karate community, where
fighters from all backgrounds could come together and test
their art, mano o mano, man vs man against the best, all
trained in different arts. Set aside was the facade, the smoke
screens and the mystique behind each art and now naked before
you was the basic street fighter!
