Bet UFC Odds Today

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, a legendary MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu stylist, meets the up and coming Cain Velasquez in a fight which should determine the number one contender for the UFC heavyweight title.

The bout between heavyweight contenders Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez that was originally scheduled for UFC 108 before a severe staph infection forced Nogueira to withdraw from UFC 108 earlier this month, but the former heavyweight champion recovered quickly after undergoing treatment in the U.S. and hoped to meet Velasquez at the UFC’s Australian debut.

Nogueira’s resume is one of the most impressive in the sport. A former Pride Fighting Championships titleholder, the 33-year-year old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has won three of his four bouts since entering the Octagon in July 2007. After losing the UFC interim title to Frank Mir at UFC 92 in December 2008, Nogueira bounced back big with a unanimous decision victory over UFC hall of famer Randy Couture at UFC 102 in August.

Velasquez (7-0) improved his UFC record to 5-0 with a second-round knockout of Ben Rothwell last month at UFC 104, while Nogueira (32-5-1) rebounded from a disappointing loss to Frank Mir with an impressive decision win over Randy Couture in August.

Also UFC 110 features Michael Bisping vs. Wanderlei Silva, George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Stevenson, Ryan Bader vs. Keith Jardine, and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Ben Rothwell.

Michael Bisping vs. Wanderlei Silva

Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva were suppose to fight at UFC 105 but Silva was sidelined due facial surgery. Wanderlei Silva has recovered from his recent facial surgery and Michael Bisping has apparently recovered from his devastating knockout loss at the hands of Dan Henderson.

Michael Bisping recently followed a very disappointing performance against Dan Henderson with a victory over Denis Kang at UFC 105. Wanderlei Silva lost a close decision to Rich Franklin in his last fight at UFC 99. In the end, Silva has won approximately two thirds of his fights by (T)KO and has lost half of his fights in similar fashion. The same is true for Bisping.
