UFC 109 - Mark Coleman vs. Randy Couture

UFC 109: Relentless
Date: Feb 06, 2010
Location: Las Vegas
Venue: Mandalay Bay Events Center
Broadcast: Pay-per-view

Mike Swick, has been choosen to face off with Thiago at the event after Josh Koscheck recently confirmed his removal from his UFC 109 rematch with Paulo Thiago (12-1) on Feb. 6th.

Bet UFC Odds Today

Swick holds an impressive 14-3 record, but dropped a lopsided unanimous decision to Dan Hardy at UFC 105 last month. The loss marked his first Loss since dropping to the welterweight division back in January of 2008.

Thiago made big waves in his first UFC fight when he was able to bounce back from a tough early going in his fight with Koscheck to get a TKO win in the first round of their fight back in February. Paulo Thiago, boasts a 12-1 mark of his own and with seven of his victories coming via submission. The Brazilian’s only loss came at the hands of his American Kickboxing Academy teammate Jon Fitch at UFC 100.

Other bouts confirmed for the card were Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman, Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen and Matt Serra will
be facing off with Frank Trigg in welterweight action.

Mark Coleman vs. Randy Couture

This fight should be a high-level wrestling match with both these fighters styles backgrounds in wrestling. Coleman, 16-9, is
a physically imposing physical specimen that is at this best when he has top position and can maul opponents with his ground
and pound. Couture is warrior that is also excellent when in top position on the mat and in the clinch when standing with his
dirty boxing skills.

Couture, 46, out-clinched muay Thai striker Brandon Vera to a unanimous decision last Saturday at UFC 105 in Manchester,
England. Couture is the only fighter to have held titles in both the UFC’s light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions and
was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2006. He is also a two-time Div. I National Championships team member and a
two-time NCAA Div. I runner-up for Oklahoma State University.

Coleman, 44, breathed new life into his 13-year career with a unanimous decision victory over 32-year-old “The Ultimate
Fighter” finalist Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100 last July in Las Vegas. He was slated to face former 205-pound champion Tito
Ortiz at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, but withdrew with a slightly torn MCL in early October.
