Bellator 100 took place on September 20, 2013 at the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. The event aired live in prime time on Spike TV.

Bellator 100 featured the Season 9 Welterweight Tournament Quarterfinal bouts and the Season 8 Welterweight finals.

In the main event, Ben Saunders defeated Douglas Lima in the welterweight tournament final. Saunders was knocked out by Douglas Lima in the second round in their previous meeting at Bellator 57.

Like he did in Season 5, Lima claimed tournament victory with a knockout win in the finals over Ben Saunders (16-6-2 MMA, 7-3 BMMA). This time, it was the Season 8 crown, and Lima earned a future shot at the Bellator MMA welterweight crown.

Douglas Lima vs Ben Saunders:

Round 2: Lima opens the round with long punches to the belly of Saunders, who answers with a slapping body kick and gets one in return. After about 40 seconds, Saunders realized he’s forgotten his mouthpiece and quickly retreats to his corner to fetch it. Lima hits Saunders with with a pair of long lefts, an uppercut, then another massive right uppercut which sends Saunders crashing to the canvas. Lima pounces and gets wrapped up in the lanky Saunders’ long guard.

Saunders has recovered enough to stand up, and now he comes forward on Lima with 90 seconds left. Lima’s offense slows as Saunders moves in with body kicks and long punches. With 30 seconds on the clock, Lima rips a left hand to Saunders’ body, then smashes his head with a flush right high kick. Saunders is out cold before he hits the ground, and it’s another highlight-reel knockout for Douglas Lima, the Bellator Season 8 welterweight tournament champion.
