Fedor Emelianenko will finally return to Mixed Martial Arts, facing the Brazilian veteran Fabricio Werdum at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. As the rumors around his possible retirement are growing from day to day, “The Last Emperor” faces the first legit Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in Werdum, since his war against Minotauro Nogueira in Pride.

Emelianenko would want to continue his 2-fight knockout streak, to remind the United States fans that he is still a driving force in the world of MMA.

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum:

Werdum grazes his toes off the left knee of Fedor with a low kick. Werdum steps forward and Fedor levels him with a punching flurry. Fedor pounces and tries to finish Werdum on the floor.

Werdum locks on an armbar and Fedor escapes. Werdum latches on a triangle. It’s tight. He alternates between armbar and triangle for several tense moments.

An armbar is deep. Fedor tries to fight out, but his arm is beyond the point of no return and the choke is tight. Fedor taps. The official time is 1:09 of round one. Werdum is the winner by huge upset. Fedor is emotionless in defeat.

Cung Le vs. Scott Smith:

Smith bullrushes Le from the bell, looking to end the fight with a single punch. He catches Le with a clean right hand. Le circles and avoids anymore punishment. Smith presses Le into the cage, where he lands a hard right and several body shots. Smith releases to throw a right-handed haymaker and misses.

Le gets off the cage and starts to box. Le lands a jab and a straight right hand. Smith is back on the charge as he chases Le down. A straight left hand rocks Smith’s world. He stumbles back to the fence and shoots desperately. Le sprawls perfectly and controls the head.

Le lets go and hits the body with his left hand. Smith stands and Le pulls him back down into the four-point stance. Smith powers forward for a double, but the fence allows Le some stability. Le absolutely cracks Smith with another straight left. Le misses a head kick and then goes to the body with two right knees that drop Smith to his knees. Le controils the head again while Smith reaches for a leg. Body shots connect for Le.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Jan Finney:

Finney lands a good right hook to start proceedings, forcing Cyborg to flurry back. Finney lands another clean right hands that makes Santos close the distance and clinch up. After they break, Cyborg lands a hard right hands, and just continues to throw heavy leather, dropping Finney to her knees. As Finney regains her footing, she walks facefirst into a Cyborg right knee that puts her on her knee again.

Great chin from Finney shown so far. Up against the fence, Santos lands another wicked right corss that puts Finney on the deck, clinging to a single leg. Cyborg smashes away with hammerfists to the side of her head, until she pulls guard. Referee Kim Winslow stands the fighters and Cyborg blasts her with another right hand. Cyborg pounces with punches and bunches and hits the back of the head at the end of a flurry.

Winslow deducts a point for the foul. Finney is given time to recover and her face is all busted up. The fighters trade punches briefly and Cyborg presses her prey against the fencing. The Brazilian steps backwards to gain a punching distance and she delivers. The fighters trade and Cyborg bullies her with straight rights.
